In the middle of June, I attended the MACH Three Awards in New York where we, our partners and Clarks were nominated for three awards. It was a thoroughly fascinating experience where I got to be involved in some powerful conversations about composable architecture and the supporting role that Lean Tree can fulfil.

In case you are not familiar with MACH, they support a swappable enterprise tech stack in which every component is pluggable, scalable, replaceable, and can be continuously improved through agile development to meet evolving business requirements. Their awards, of which this was the third iteration, aims to highlight those companies at the forefront of composable solutions.

In the heart of NYC

The awards took place in a beautiful venue in New York. It was the biggest and, I was informed, the best awards MACH have staged yet. What was impactful from the awards was getting a real understanding of the challenges that clients have struggled with previously. It was great to hear about the journey they had gone through with composable e-commerce.

Being part of the nominations was an honour. Better still, we were able to leave with two MACHIMPACT awards, one for Best Retail Project and the other was the Golden Award for Best Change.

Beyond the inevitable winning of awards, it was just great to get the chance to build relationships and partnerships.

The key takeaways

There were two key messages I took away from the event. Firstly, people were reporting that if they had the chance again, they would spend two to three hours in business change for every one hour spent delivering IT change. Secondly, and most impactfully, I gained the sense that with any great composable solution, you must put the same amount of care into how you land that change within the business through business change.

With all of the celebrations, press interviews, and other excellent aspects of the event, it was wonderful to get the chance to represent Lean Tree and have meaningful conversations about the valuable contribution business change can add to a programme.
